Settle For More.

"There is more in us than we know. If we can be made to see it, perhaps, for the rest of our lives, we we be unwilling to settle for less." - Kurt Hahn

Sometimes we tend to rest on our laurels, accepting what we know as being sufficient, or even a bit better than that. However, when that opportunity for growth comes a knocking, fear and uncertainty can put us into a catonic state. Stepping out of our comfort zone is an uncomfortable place to be.

Sometimes it takes a loved one, a friend or a co-worker to see the potential in us that we don't see when we look in the mirror. I think many times, we are content for things to remain as status-quo, and the thought of reaching out on a limb to get that piece of fruit is too much.

However, if we do step out of our box, if we do reach out and go for that piece of fruit, just waiting to be picked, something happens to you, and you will never be the same. You add or grow your confidence level up a notch or maybe three. You feel exuberant, and a smile in your heart grows. You now know you can do it again, and is not that a wonderful feeling?

  1. I loved this post! You're absolutely right, it's hard but worthwhile to step out of your comfort zone once in a while. Even if you fail, you've gained something in the process.

  2. Beautiful words. And you're right. There is so much potential outside of the box, and so much that keeps me sitting "safely" inside the box. Sometimes I don't even realize that I'm in the box, until my eye catching something glittering just beyond the edges. Here's to being able to see and to grasp all that is outside of the box!

  3. Willou - Agree, even if you fail, you gain alot.

Deidra - So true. It's easy to sit in the box, then stand outside of it. However many times, that's where the fruit is... :)

  6. I love boxes that have doors. They allow us to step outside for a bit and come back in when we need to. Enjoy!!

  7. Alright, now you really are my alter ego - as I have been dealing with being boxed in and content, but yearning and longing for my box to be bigger or perhaps find out what it is on the other side that I find of intrigue. It causes me to not settle for less, but for more - in a good way!

  9. Wow...great post! There is nothing to add here, just me saying to you that I totally agree with you. I love that feeling...it's scary sometimes, but afterwards!!! Anthony Robbins has one very good quote on that, can't remember it now...it's too early over here;-)
Have a great Day, XXX, Carmie.
