Be New and Improved.

"We know what we are, but know not what we may be." - William Shakespeare

Have you ever surprised yourself in your abilities and the possibilities that come from new discoveries? I sometimes think we settle into the drone of "this is who I am" without stopping to think about what is possible? Whether it's a new hobby, or finishing "War and Peace" it is all there for the taking.

An example of this was at the gym. I wanted to see how many push-ups I could do. Before starting, my hands began to sweat. Fear took over my mind, which was going to limit my ability and possibility. I managed to push the demons out, and up and down I went. Surprising myself I pushed further than I thought I could. Ability and possibility were suitably matched. On the other hand, I tried a new exercise and could only manage two reps. However, that won't stop me. When I improve my ability, the possibilities are endless on many levels.

  1. I love the 'can-do' attitude-especially when it comes to things gym and exercise related! I think it's always good to give ourselves that extra push-usually we can do more than our minds want to think we can. Good for you! I think you'll be having a great day!

  2. So much of what holds us is in fact fear or lack of control. When we set that aside, it is amazing what we can accomplish. I am about to embark on a new physical challenge myself and I so needed this, a little push in the right direction is always a good thing!
    thanks!

  4. I love that quote! Isn't it interesting how the most growth takes place in those last few reps... ? Such a great metaphor for life and pushing oneself to a new level.

  7. Great attitude! Push-ups, while difficult, are not the problem...being able to get up off the floor afterward is!

  9. Yahoo... Kathy!! I am so happy for you and your positive "I can" instead of "I can't". Today I went out only for a short walk it was so cold and windy all I could think of was blasting the heat on in the car for the ride home. xo
