Cherry Trees and Snow

Artist: Julian Merrow-Smith

Sometimes I think of winter as a quiet time of year. A time to rest one's body and in general: hybernate. This is not to say we should close our shutter windows until April. I still believe the world to be a juicy piece of pie, and should live for a slice of its beauty.

In my life, I'm feeling abit quiet. I'm terribly sad about what is going on in other parts of the world. And that makes me become introspective - grateful for what I have, yet feeling abit guilty for I have at my fingertips.

When I reach out for art/poetry, they seem to touch my inner spirit in ways I can't describe. Some things are not meant to be described through words. So, I hope you enjoy the painting that I selected for this cold wintry weather, and dream of cherry trees for everyone.

I do try to find the best in each day, but I find it much harder in the winter. I'm longing for spring.

  3. With all that's going on the world, the only place to find peace is in quiet and beauty. I hope you find comfort in these.

  8. Sometimes quiet is good for the soul. I count my blessings every night when I close my eyes, and say a prayer for the young, old and animals not so lucky. Many hugs my friend. xo

  9. That painting suits your post beautifully, my friend. We could all use a good "quiet" every now and then in order to become more centered in this crazy, chaotic, cluttered and noisy world in which we live.

  12. I think sometimes our deepest understanding about the world can come out of solitude and quiet. We live in such a mixed-up place, so full of anguish and beauty, and I think it's important cling to that inner quiet at times, if only to consider.

  13. I could not agree with you more, Kathleen. Sometimes we just need to be still and aware of all the beauty that surrounds us.
    Thank you for sharing.

  17. Lovely. I am just torn apart with what's going on in Haiti...literally to the point of not being able to sleep (ergo, my late night bloggy visit!). My job has been very tough lately and I feel like an idiot when I complain. I HAVE a job, a roof over my head, food in my belly. It's all...too much, really.

I hope you are feeling better...I know you were under the weather but I hope you're tip top again.
