Magie Noire...Magic of the night

I have loved this perfume for more years than I can count. It's soft, slightly powdery vs floral-like. Men and women both love it. I like to think of it as my signature scent, one that I wear time and time again.

Rumor has it Lancome is discontinuing this wonderful item. I must make it a point to purchase a few bottles of it, so I have it for years to come, although I don't know what the shelf life of perfume is.

Do you have a perfume scent that makes you heady with love?

  1. Opium. Although it's too heavy to wear in the spring or summer. Then I would go for Chanel. But I can't wear perfume anymore due to daughter's asthma.

  2. Yup -- Marilyn Miglin's Pheromone! I'll have to stop by the cosmetic counter at Macy's to give Magic Noire a sniff!

  3. as aromatherapist and perfume addict i have more fragrances than shelves to keep them cool. so if you buy a few magie noires do not open them, keep them cool but not cold and you can opfen them in a few years and they will almost smell like today. but once opened an exposed to uv-light and air they have a shelf life of between one and three years. i love chanel 19 from the synthetic stuff and orris (iris) essential oil from the natural corner. cheers from ireland eliane

  4. Well this is nice to know-I will keep my eyes open for it! I have three favorites- but Chanel No. 5 is at the top- my Mother always wore it and when I do, I think of her and some really special memories.

  6. This year is the year I find my signature scent. I've got it narrowed down to two: Queen (by Queen Latifah) and Love Rocks (Victoria's Secret).

  7. I don't think I have a signature scent because I like to try something different when whatever I'm using runs out. I love light scents, nothing too heavy or too sweet. A few years ago I had something by Hugo Boss. I don't recall the name of it, and I'd love to have it again. When I test the Hugo Boss samples at the store, none of them smell like the one I am looking for.

  10. Years ago, I met "Helene Arpels" and she gave me a bottle of her signature heady scent. It is reserved for special occasions, but I refer to it as my love potion. A tiny dab right behind the ears.

There are many others that I adore, Christian Dior, lilly of the valley, Hermes, Calais, Chanel, Lanvin, Issey, and then that 4711 clean spritz.
So many smells, so little time!!!

  12. I fell in love with Betsey Johnson's fragrance a few years ago. My grandmother wore Norell and my mom Sand & Sable. But I've really cut back on wearing scent since it bothers so many people.

  14. I've always wanted to have a "signature scent" but I haven't quite managed it yet. I really like Dior's Pure Poison though...so, maybe...
