Keep the kindness going

After the holiday season is over, wouldn't it be great if everyone kept to their smiles and politeness? I sure hope so. It's the little things that people remember about other people. Letting someone pass you w/your carriage in the supermarket with a smile, giving up "your" parking space to someone else.

Every year I notice people being nice during the month of December. Then something changes and goes askew. In January, people look worried, harried and generally unhappy. I know I can't change the world, however, I can change my part of the world, and the way I look at it. I am definately carrying the lovely politeness to the world over into January. Who knows? Maybe some will spill into February? :)

  2. Yes it would be nice if we could carry the spirit into the other 11 months, but if we all take the one step at a time we can make a difference. Thank you my friend. xo

  4. I like the idea of keeping the spirit alive for the whole year- not just one month. You are so right. Happy, Happy New Year.

  6. I really feel like every day we should try to do one nice thing -- hold a door, help a mom schlep her carriage up/down stairs, stop to give directions to someone who looks lost (in NYC during the holidays this is an easy one :-)...etc. If we did that every day, that would be 365 happy deeds multiplied millions of times each year. Maybe it's a tall order, but a gal can dream. :-)

  10. Kathleen, You are so right.

We can all only play our small part, maybe TOGETHER our smiles and politeness will rub off on others and continue, not just into February - but every month of the year.

    Happy New Year to you.

  14. Yeaaah, I've noticed that as well. I thought it was just me who thought that people had changed...or that I was projecting / recognizing in the other something that was inside of me (does this make any sense to you at all??? I hope you understand what I'm trying to say here. If not...then leave it).
Anyway...good to read you have that same sensation as well. Let's smile and stay polite towards eachother. XXX
