Mirror Mirror on the wall

"Nature often holds up a mirror so we can see more clearly the ongoing processes of growth, renewal, and transformation in our lives." - Mary Ann Brussat

All of us have had to change in many ways, many times in life. It is an integral part of life's metamorphosis. From infancy to adulthood - change happens.

Events occur in life that push us to re-navigate our ship, either slowly or quickly. Whether it is waivering over a minor decision, or that dreadful phone call in the middle of the night. It is all about change, good or bad, happy or sad. No matter what, transformation, growth, and renewal is in process.

A couple of years ago, I left a career I had for many years. I knew the day would come when I would eventually leave, however, I did not know that I would leave sooner than I expected. One day, I held a mirror up in front of me, and I knew the transformation was taking place right then and there. The change was at my doorstep: I saw it in my eyes. Am I glad I transformed and renewed? You bet.

Has transformation, growth and renewal been a part of your life lately? Please share, if you will.

  1. I am touched by that post. I did have a moment where everything changed shockingly and posted about it on "A Rose Life". I agree with you that those milestones are a mirror to our souls. I think they're there to test us, strengthen us and I hope, allow us to grow. Do post more about your change please.

  2. A very reflective post. I know if I keep my eyes open the moment is there for me to see. I have had a moment or two but I would take up too much space. When we have the moment doesn't it feel like rebirth, or a light bulb right above you goes off? Thanks for the beautiful post. xoxo

  3. Clarity - I love your words about "testing us, strengthening us and allowing us to grow." If we don't grow, then we've wasted precious insight onto a higher level. I will e-mail you about details. Thank you for your comments.

Joyce - Yes, that light bulb can sometimes be a shocker, but that's "life in the moment." Thank you very much for your post.

  4. The birth of both of my children was life changing for me, but my daughter was a preemie and spent six months in the hospital which was even more impactful. It made my marriage even stronger and made me see other people's true colors. People we considered friends avoided us because they didn't know what to say. It made me re-evaluate many friendships.

Also, I have an award for you on my blog! Stop by and pick it up when you have a chance!

  6. I love change although the catalyst is frequently shocking. There are so many periods in my life when I just 'upped and moved on' and in each case, I'm happy I did. Friends say it's a strong sense of survival; I like to believe it's actually listening to one's instincts.
