Christmas in December
The words are simple, and the meaning speaks volumes...take time to enjoy the beauty of the season. I have always loved the month of December. My Mother use to make "Christmas in December" happen all month long, as if it were magical...and it was...and it still is. The warm scents of cookies and candles, listening to Christmas music, and wrapping presents for family and friends. Then decorating the house and our tree, squealing with delight over our favorite ornaments and saying "oh, I remember this ornament"! Actually, I still do that.
Today I was exiting a shop, and a man held the door open for me. When I smiled and said "thank you" his reply was "Seasons Greetings". Those words resonated within me. I believe Christmas is about love and hope. Let us bestow that on one another this season, as we hurry about with our lists in hand. Let us remember, we are all human beings and we all need love...even from people we don't know. I believe it makes us feel part of a larger world. To extend yourself with simple words such as "good morning" or "thank you" can lift the spirits of someone you don't even know, and needs your smile...more than you know.
Season's Greetings!

Lovely post on the sights, sounds and scents of the season. I can almost hear a jangle of sleigh bells as the door was held open for you!. I love to inhale the scent of balsam fir-takes me back through the ages of my life!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Kathleen. I'm enjoying this month, too -- busy with decorating. I'm loving listening to Christmas music, too.

Good tidings of cheer, all year long. My Father always told me that Christmas is not just one day a year. May the spirit and wonder of the holidays fill your heart and your home....and where ever you go!

ReplyDeleteI like the way your mom thinks!!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many folks out there who have such a hard time over the holidays, I am reminded of my first one without my mom.... .in these times with so many people suffering financially as well as emotionally it is even more important to extend love to our fellow man.
Great post Kathleen! Merriest of Christmases to you!
I hope you're enjoying your holiday season.
ReplyDeleteKathleen,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you wholeheartedly. Your wonderful post reminded me of this saying: “Love wasn't put in your heart to stay. Love isn't love until you give it away.”
