I love that painting - I believe that it is in the MET. The story goes that the painter returned to America after a time of being away in Paris and painting during the impressionistic period - and was moved by the red white and blue flags - Such an amazing painting for me. So symbolic in many ways. Enjoy your 4th, full of happy freedom and independence! Love my stamps you sent - Thanks! pve
Such a beautiful painting- I love it. Thank you for your warm, kind thoughts-they mean the world. You are such a thoughtful friend-I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend.
Thank you for showing the Hassam painting. Your choice of artwork is so close to mine and your comments are so inspirational. Have a Happy Independence Day. I am going to our square to hear the reading of the Declaration of Independence in the morning by a costumed interpreter and will get big lumps in my throat!!!
you always have wonderful postings, purple flowers ... and this painting is really captivating and so patriotic to the land of the free ... blessings to you and yours today and all days ~ prairiegirl
I hope you had a lovely holiday. I can't believe it but the sun actually came out for most of the weekend! I had my first visit of the season to the beach. Whoo hoo!!
Happy 4th of July to you, too! I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe're planning a relaxing day at home for the 4th. We'll probably have something on the grill for dinner and light a few fireworks after dark.
