The All American Tradition...

The very famous " Thanksgiving Day Dinner" by Norman Rockwell always brings a smile to my face...and a chuckle. Mother looks so proud, as does Papa. However if you look closely, you will see a bunch of smiling kids up to who knows what. It is my envision that they are whispering and waiting for the feast to begin. The giggles, the laughter, the man in the right forefront, who is turned around to see the Artist painting. Maybe it is Norman himself?  ; )
I do not know for sure, however, what I do know is that the paintings by Norman Rockwell are Americana stories that he told through his artwork. And for that he is known. And I love them all.
So kick off your shoes, eyeball those sweet potatoes with butter and snippets of dill, and know that when the turkey comes out to the table, everyone should applaud the chef.
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.

  1. Kathleen,
Norman Rockwell paintings have always been very special to me. They are so charming, and display the very heart of the family, especially this one at Thanksgiving. I hope you enjoy the good food, company, and all that this holiday brings.

    Love,

  2. So perfectly written; nothing depicts true Americana than Norman Rockwell. I will think of you all tomorrow sitting at your tables and waiting for that big moment for the bird to be laid on the table. It was a great moment in time and one I miss very much. I hope your Thanksgiving is one for the memory books!
